I use FrameMaker as the main authoring tool when I write my skills & drills books. I am often asked why FrameMaker is the better choice over Word. While Word is great for word processing, nothing touches FrameMaker when it comes to creating technical documentation. Chris King of RIMS, Inc. has put together a great document that compares FrameMaker to Word.

I am not sure this is a good example to post – it references Word 95, 97 & 2000, Framemaker 5.5.6 and Blue Sky RoboHelp…
Many of the workflows will have changed quite a lot since then! If there was an updated version of this (or a similar) document it would be better, but I am not sure of the usefulness of this one.

I disagree TIm. While the versions may be old, his arguments for using FrameMaker over Word for technical documentation are solid. I agree it would be better if he referenced the new stuff. It’s an older document, but in many ways still valid.
